FAQs

What is your cancellation policy?

You can reschedule your appointment online up until 24 hours before your appointment. After this time please contact me. It is my policy to charge 50% of your treatment price if you cancel within 24 hours, unless you are cancelling due to illness.

What if I have allergies or skin conditions?

If you are allergic to nuts, or ingredients commonly used in skin care products, it’s important for your therapist to know so that alternatives can be offered. If you have a skin condition that is inflamed (irritated), blistered or open/exposed the therapist may avoid working directly over the area, but please don’t be embarrassed or avoid massage therapy. In many cases massage can help to reduce stress symptoms – one of which may be the flare-up of the skin condition. If you have a foot fungal infection please inform the therapist as this requires additional hygiene measures.

What does it mean that you are LGBTQ+ friendly?

It means that my clinic is a place where you can feel safe no matter how you identify. I practice inclusivity and non-judgement. Before any physical treatment begins, we discuss your health to understand what you need and agree a treatment plan together. Massage can take place with the client either in their underwear, partially clothed or with no clothes removed at all. It is vitally important that you feel safe and comfortable.

I have pain from a recent injury, can I get a massage?

Yes, of course. If your injury occurred within 48-72 hours you might be offered ice to help relieve the pain but the therapist will not be treating the affected area directly. Any older injuries may be gently mobilised or treated but the benefit will be in the work to the rest of the body, which will boost its natural healing processes. You will be given advice and stretches for homecare to encourage fast healing and minimise the chance of the pain becoming chronic.

I’ve got pain from an injury years ago, can massage help me?

Yes, indeed. No matter how long ago it was, the fact that you had an injury sometimes means that you have a higher chance of being re-injured. Massage therapy can treat the weakness but also help you to stretch and condition the muscles that support the movement that is affected by the pain. This means that even if you’ve been suffering for many years with a ‘niggle’ that was initially caused by an accident or injury – you can reduce that pain. Your treatment might include mobilisations and stretches that you can do at home in between treatments that make it even more likely that you can get back to those daily activities that were affected by pain.

What is The Jing Method™?

I received my Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist training through the Jing Institute of Advanced Clinical Massage in Brighton, UK. The Jing Method™ is a partnership between patient and practitioner where a treatment plan is designed to increase your mobility, agility, and joint range of motion (ROM), whilst focussing on decreasing your daily pain. Here is an excellent resource on their website if you want to find out more about the method or the school.
